25-30 is usually a good starting size you can fit most begginer fish in it and is relatively easy to maintain i wouldn't spend 300 on it i would buy new tank and accesories but thats is up to you my good man

i paid about $300 to set up my 30gal, including live rock. and that was used. i had to do quite a bit of clean up to get it ready. so yes, $300 for a complete 29gal kit isnt bad, when you take the nice lighting system etc. into account.

I would say so I am setting up a 30gal nano reef. Everything for the base set up of the tank cost me a bit over $200 and thats not counting live sand I have and the rock, bulbs I need etc. I also didnt have to pay for my wet dry system.

bio cubes are expensive because they have filtration and all built in , and well they just can be. 300 dollars would be an amazing deal if all that came inside with it.... otherwise i would customize your own tank and search craigslist for corals. I know plenty of people that wholesale over craigslist and you can get a cheap reef tank. People dont understand that TRUE reef tanks costs thousands of dollars......
