At my desk
DIBS.... (I hope you are all aware of the "dibs" protocol)

This is on eBay and I need your help to decide if I should make the drive to get it and how much its really worth.

Its not really 180 gallons; with a water level 1" from the top its closer to 160.

I attached the pictures the seller sent me; they came with the following message

"The aquarium could be very easily fixed with two small pieces of acrylic and some glue. The materials would cost about $10.00 and the whole repair proccess would take about 10 minutes."

i wouldn't get it, its only 18" wide... to top it off those overflows take out an xtra 15gal or so. that tank is weird lol. i'd only use it for non monser sized fish. and the fact that its broke would push me away even more.

I agree

You're in cali, you can get much better deals.

It looks like a garage built tank. The edges are not cut square. It was cut with a hand saw rather than a table saw. There is not a tank manufacturer that would let that leave the factory with their name on it. And those joints would never leave the factory. They make the repair with very thin solvent using capillary action. A manufacturer can and would fix the problems before it hit the loading dock. In the second picture, the airbubble extends from the inside to the outside. I can not see how that would hold water. With the statement that it was static tested indicates the factory would also have done a visual inspection too (just common sense). Again it is amaturish construction.
Then the guy goes touting that the house is $2 million and the quality standards have to be super high but then they go slumming with that stand...Makes ya scratch yer head. I think the guy is full of BS. Also when someone says that a repair will only cost ten dollars and take ten minutes, it makes you wonder why he didn't already do it.

Anyway, the auction already maxxed out the dollar a gallon rule. It is junk with a junk stand (looks like a standard kitchen countertop on Home Depot cabinets). Save your money and keep your eyes peeled for something worth your while.

In my opinion if you have to have it ship FORGET IT!!!.. If it is local My opinion would be nothing over 200.00 :)

well when i started watching it it was still at $75............. I thought it was at least worth that much, but not much more. not interested in payin $150 for it; pass

also I have friends who travel to reno a few times a week for work so I wouldnt even have to pay for gas to pick it up......

check out your local recycler. i found a 240 (96X18X30), 40 gal sump/pump, stand and canopy for 500 bucks.
