So, had these little guys for just shy of four days, and already had the first "Oh crap" moment I've ever has with any pet. I was just sitting down to watch Jaws - which just happened to be on, perhaps a bad omen? - and I heard a drip drip noise, which I at first attributed to my dog licking herself. Then I realized she was sitting behind me, unmoving. Oh crap. The shark tank is upstairs. Sprinted up there thinking "Oh no oh no oh no... what broke?! What am I going to do? That IS my back up tank right now!"

There's water all around the base, but the water level hadn't dropped precipitously, so I'm thinking maybe it's just a leak in one of the filters. Finally got very lucky - it was just the vent for the skimmer overflowing (small blockage). But damn, in all my years of caring for critters, never had such a terrified moment.

PS: They're fine. Very active. And for the next two months, I have sharks in my bedroom... and get to make inane Dr. Evil jokes to all my friends. Frickin' laser beams!

I couldn't resist.

I had that happen twice once it was my powerhead some how got blocked and started to shot water out the back of the tank. The other was a hang on back filter that started to go bad around the seal. Easy fix but when you have a glass tank and you come home with a bunch of water on the floor and the tank loosing water.
