Hi everyone.
I finally bought some peacock bass. Been looking and wanting some for about a year now. I've bought 2 azuls around 5-6 inches. I wasnt overly fussy aboit which peacock bass i got aslong as they looked good. I looked at several different kinds but these stood out to me.
They're currently in the middle chamber of my sump with a high finned pangasius.
As they're my first peacock bass, have u guys got any tips?
Thanks in advance

Get more then two that's for sure.

Any reason to get more than 2?
I may be mistaken but I believe its because when theyre small they feel more secure when they are in a group of around 5. I bought a solo kelberi and it was super shy for the longest time and took months to get off of pellets, his growth was nowhere near what most others achieve. Hes good now, but I think If I got a group it wouldve been much better.

Im sure the more experienced guys could give you a better run down

With two you always have tussles. 3 or more helps spread the aggression amongst the group.

if you are able to afford try to get a few more, u can also consider adding a few different species, maybe u can consider some orinos as they aren't too pricey and have a very different pattern. i also believe that these fish should be kept in a school when young. i would advise u to try to slowly convert them to pellets as soon as possible since they are still "youths". any other tips is that, peacocks grow big fast given the right space to swim and eat ALOT and **** alot. thus prepare to fork out more for food, water and wool (i believe 2 will be not much of an issue but if u are going to follow the advise of getting more then this is more applicable). other then that, have fun feeding them!

Thanks guys. I might go back and buy some more then. I haven't come across any orinos for sale in the uk yet. I might have to look harder.
As for feeding them, i already have to fork out a lot on food due to the other fish i have. The bass are already eating pellets which is good.

Took your advice and I'm picking up a temensis roughly the same size as my azuls on friday. Hopefully they all get along.
