try convicts, they breed easily and all the time........You can also set up a tank of mollies or guppies....whatever it is you breed, feed high quality food because that is what the fish that eat them are going to get out of it, if you can, this is a good way to keep a picky pike very healthy. Plus the live food is good for their mental health being predators.

thanks

would do convicts but only have a 22L tank!! i think ill do guppys, any ideaa on what food you would rccomend of feeding them to grow them up really quickly and healthily.

thanks
Matt

with guppies, im not sure, I know guppies eat flakes by the butt load, you can feed them brine shrimp and worms too. Try to give them some stuff with carotene (Sp?) in it so that it will hopefully enhance the color of your fish once they eat them. But basically, any high quality flake food should work......Guppies are obnivors so your options on feeding them are endless, they can actually make a nice display too if you set your feeder tank up accordingly. Maybe a childs tank of something.

yeah thats what im thinking lol. i am just wondering if i can use the same tank for breeding and growing out. any ideas?

thanks
Matt

Really, feeding live foods should be your last option. Almost all pikes can be trained/coaxed into eating prepared foods or frozen foods. I've been able to get all my pikes in the past to get onto pellets, mysis shrimp, bloodworms, cocktail shrimp, earthworms, algae wafers, catfishnuggets, and even onto flakes. So really, you just gotta be patient and be persistant with them. ;)

No luck with mine ever touching prepared foods like pellets, floating or non floating, flakes or anything else along those lines.

They will readily accept froozen anything pretty much, and freeze dried anything, including krill (they love this once they try it) and it seems to really add bulk. Try to mix it up as much as possible though, get them on as many different foods as possible.

I personally do feed my fish live food on occassions and they love it. Also puts on size from my experience but should not be a staple of their diet by any means.
