Nice looking little pike. I would agree that it looks like the baby Venezuelans I see often at petland. Be prepared for a big hungry pike pretty soon- I wouldn't keep it with the cory cat in the picture for too much longer. They are a choking hazard because of their dorsal spines, and crenicichla will eat anything that can (almost) fit in their mouth
Nice, if you go back soon and can take a picture I would like to see it. Mine at 13" is the largest I have seen in person, have heard that they get to 18-20" but never seen it.Agreed, I just saw an adult one donated to the LFS, about 18" long and a girdth that is easily wider than an adult wrist.
pcked up mine last October around the 2.5”, he’s just over a foot and thick.Alright, thanks for the help. Any idea what the growth rate for these guys is like?

Wow, still super impressive. That thing is thick as hell! Thanks for snagging the picHere you go. This is the LFS tank with removable dividers at the 16" mark. The pike is stressed and has its tail bent up against the side of the tank. I overestimated the length of the pike. It is closer to 16" with about a 8-9" girth at the thickest area.
