Here are my first two Plecos. I don't know what they are except spotted. I picked up some algae wafers for them but I also threw in a carrot 'cause the guy at the store told me they might like them.... Any advice on them AND can anyone identify them? These guys are awesome!
Also the guy in the first pic is hanging out on the bottom. He was on the glass and stuff last night but today he has spent time on the bottom.. Is that normal?

Looks like you have a couple of little Gibbys there.

Hope you have a big tank for them :D

Does your tank have some caves or ornaments that they can hide in? They will be much more settled and happy if they have a few hiding spots.

Yes they will rest hanging from the glass, sitting on or under a rock, upside down sucked onto something.. whatever they feel like ;)

Feeding, give them a mix of fresh veges (zuchini, cucumber, green beans, peas, mushroom and carrots are all OK) and sinking algae tablets. An occasional meaty treat or food that other fish miss is good, but feed them mostly vege based foods. Experiment with the veges, different plecs seem to have different favourites.

I dont know what other fish you have, but those little fellas are going to get you into monster fish keeping pretty soon :D They will max out about 18" long, and can live for 20 years or more.

Cheers

Ian

P.S. I just read your sig line, start saving up for a bigger tank. My gibby is just about outgrowing my 50gal now, and he's only 1/2 grown ;)

Thanks. I am I have a severe case of MTS!!! I started a new savings account Friday that the wife doesn't need to know about ;)

OK I am kinda worried about one of them... First of all. I got them form that "Smart Pet" store. They were the only two there except for one dead one so I know it wasn't a good sign but I figured if I didn't get them they would surely be dead anyway. Anyway, one of them is sorta floating at the top by the glass. He will swim away if I try to touch him but he doesn't seem well. HE will kinda half suction to the glass but still float up if you know what I mean. I added a bit of aquarium salt because thats all I know to do. I don't want to kill a fish. What to do???? Please help...
I am making this a new thread.. He is about to die.
