I picked this guy up today from my LFS. They had him labeled Guinean Bichir (P. ansorgii) about 4 inches. Can anyone confirm just to make sure?

He is in my 75 gallon with a 7-8 inch fire eel (Apollo) and I should be getting a 180 gallon next week =D.

I originally went in to get a Senegalus, but when i saw this guy I couldn't resist. His colors were so much better. Most expensive fish i've ever bought too! Only $30.... Lol so I can't complain.

This is him right after I acclimated him and released him from the bag so he is still on edge.

kinda hard to tell, but that looks correct to me. congrats also!

Thanks! Yeah I am waiting for him to come out more, but I do see the checkerboard pattern when I get a look at him from above.

Got another view of him.

I'm not that familiar but that is a very beautiful fish! Around here the most exotic or oddball fish we have are senegals.

Thanks! And that kinda sucks that, that is your most exotic oddball.

I can't verify that its an ansorgii, but I don't think it's an endlicheri
