So I decided to set up another tank...... Just for a polypterus. So on the order list at work I saw the place we get fish from had a few Delhezi for about 10 bucks. So I ordered one and should be getting it on Wednesday. Now they say it will come in at around 2.5"-3". So I figured i'd grow him out in the 10 gallon in my bathroom. Now If he was alone in this ten gallon how long would he last for? I have enough tanks to have him grow out to full size just want to know a GOOD estimate to how fast these guys grow? And would he be Okay in a tank with a Jade Goby that is about the same size as him? last question... What would be the best substrate? Right now I have it bare bottom and would like to keep it bare bottom... But if I was to add some what would be my best bet? Thank you!

They can grow pretty quickly when they're small.
I would upgrade when he hits 4"
Bare bottom is fine, but personally, I prefer substrate and with Polys, sand is best.

Absolutely aquarium grade sand.
They'll be too big for a 10g in a month or two with regularly feeding.
As soon as he outgrows the goby it's lunch.

Yeah I just got him in today and brought him home! he is A LOT smaller then I thought he was going to be. He looks great, will get some pictures done once I have him acclimated!
