Hey everyone. Those who know me know I dug a 3,500g pond last fall. It's got a pond skimmer feeding a 3,500gph pond pump, which feeds an ~350g bog filter. This spring I added 11 Water Hyacinths to the bog. They looked great at first, but we had several frosts after I added them, and they've been looking a little sad lately. You can imagine my surprise when i came home from work today to find 2 of the plants had flowered! I'm very excited. as these are the first pond plants I've ever had. I'm hoping to add more variety over the next couple of weeks.

Oh yah, there are about 50 feeder comets in there that survived the winter. A couple are almost 4" now. I may need to net some out top use as feeders...

Nice...

Good to see the Hyacinth made it through the frosts., they usually turn into mush when it gets that cold.

Yah, you can tell they're a little worse for wear still, but if they're starting to bloom, I guess they're coming back ok. I'm hoping to get to the pond and garden store this weekend to pick up some more plants. Hopefully they have a better selection this time.

I'm also hoping to get lots of landscaping rock done around the pond the next couple of weeks. That should help with the little bit of runoff that's muddying the pond up.

Marsh Marigolds bloom in April for some early color and a great plant for the edges.

Blue Flag Iris is starting to bloom now and LA variety starting to bud now, also great for edges or shallow shelves.

Water Forget-me-not (Myosotis)is another for the edges and will also help with the soil issues.

Cool, thanks. I'll look for those. 4 more of the plants should be blooming either today or tomorrow. That will make 6 of the 11 blooming so far. Hopefully the other 5 will, but if not, oh well.

I just took some pics. a few minutes ago, but can't upload right now.
