Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster. Sorry for all the questions I'm about to ask....
Recently got tired of breeding snakeskin guppies so decided to get a FH.
Got this one at my LFS. its about 1.5inch.
I'm pretty sure its a red dragon, but probably can't really tell until when it gets bigger? ID help appreciated.

Also, when do they start developing pearls or specs?

Can I feed him live bloodworms? Been feeding him crushed up floating cichlid pellets.

He often hides in a decorative cave I put into the tank. Everytime I walk up to the tank, he becomes striped in color and hides. Is the shyness normal?

Sorry for the blurry picture. Used a phone and had to zoom in quite deep cuz he was hiding in the back of the tank.

Thinking Red Dragon as well but could you get a better pic?

Will definitely try, but like I said, he often hides in his cave as soon as I walk up to the tank. So this was one of the better shots of him outside.

Just FYI, he is housed with two 2.5 peppered corys.

Anymore info on this guy, or FHs in general would be helpful

I got rid of a almost 10" bumble bee because my 5-6" female FH beat him up bad and everyone told me that the bumble bees especially mature males are much more nasty.

No one really answered any of my other questions. i don't care about compatibility as I can always move the other fish.

Again....
ID help appreciated.

Looks like an rd, grow it out then you'll get a better idea of what it is.

Depending on the strain and quality, they'll start developing pearls anywhere from just under an inch to 3".

You can feed him bloodworms, just don't make it a staple 2-3 times a week in addition to daily pellet staple will be enough.

New fish are often shy, hiding and throwing up stress bars, give him time.
