I have been a lurker for a few weeks now, but in the hobby for approximately a year.

I saw a weird thing last night involving my 10 1/2" long common Pleco...He was on the bottom kind of convulsing...about once every 1-2 seconds at first, then the toming went to like 2-5 seconds after a few hours passed. I don't know if this can happen or not, but can a fish get the hick-ups? This is what it looked like to me...He seamed a bit freaked out, but he swam normally (a quick twitch and he goes where ever he wants too...).

I forgot to check this morning to see if it was still occuring, but I'll see tonight. Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Also-anyone in the Seattle area that would like to adopt him? Too many large fish in my 55gallon- Also looking to rehouse x3 4-5" Bala Sharks as well. Will trade for another Birchir, just not another Sengali or albino.

Thanks for reading!

Wow. I've seen cichlids do this on occasion, but plecos usually only twitch when defending territory or other aggression/spawning issues. You're sure he wasn't chasing something around?

Nope, he was just sitting there on the bottom of the tank attached to a rock and twitching. I put my hand in there to get him to swim or something ( I was worried) and he moved to the back of the tank on the glass and started twitching again... He's just fine today, no signs of that twitch... Like I said, it was like he had hick-ups...

BTW his name is Zeus...What ever Zeus wants to do he does, no matter whats in his way...Keeps knocking my heater loose from the glass too!

I'd have thought MFK would have more to say on this subject.

Well the next day he was doing the same thing later at night, but today he seams fine, he was a little aggressive towards me when I took a leaf of 'his' filter, but I touched his nose and he booked...

Working on my picture skills, hears a preview of him...
