So Ive been doing my hw and think im ready to handle rays, but any advice is appreciated.

So I picked up a couple marble motoros today still in the bag, and now have them in a 40br QT tank. The tank has no cover ( hope thats not a problem, I cant imagine a stingray getting airborne lol) I have the heater separated by a wall of egg crate and i turned down the filters flow so they dont get stuck. I have sand on the bottom of the tank and no light to reduce stress.

Water parameters:
76 degrees
Ph 7.0 - 7-2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10ppm
3 water changes a day 5 gallons a piece.

Attempting feeding tommrow chopped up nightcrawlers, frozen shrimp and blood worms.

What do u guys think?

In my limited ray keeping experience I am going to suggest that you get them onto sinking pellets as soon as possible.

Personally I'd leave the flow at its optimum. Rsys appreciate good circulation, plenty of dissolved oxygen also. They only get stuck if they want to
Are they wild caught or captive?

Looking forward to some pics once out of the bag

Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. so ive made a make shift cover out of some acrylic and egg crate laying around and bumped up the flow a little bit, no pics for tonight just gonna let them chill out, ill put a light on the tank and send some pics tommrow. As far as I can tell they seem to be doing well. I will also see if they will take to massivore pellets tommrow.

Nice, rays are allot of fun

I agree with MHDevelopments MHDevelopments keep the flow high. Rays need allot of oxygen and they mainly stay at the bottom, were there is less oxygen which means you really gotta oxygenate the water.
What were they eating before you bought them?
How many do you have?
Whats the filtration?
Sometimes if you add allot of rays at once or even one big ray to a system without rays or extremely messy fish like rays, it'll crash the system with all the added bioload.
That happenned when my marble motoro arrived, and he was a pup added to a 120, i can amagine what multiple ones would do to a 40 breeder. The 3 water changes a day will probably keep that from happening or make it happen allot slower.

Ok so I got the flow cranked to the max, the filter is nothing special just a top fin 60 with 2 established bio max cartridges and some sponges and filter floss. I have 2 marble motoros, male ,and female both about 5 inches. Im not surw what they were eating before I picked them up the same day they arrived at the pet store, still in the bags from shipping. Im not sure if they are wild caught or captive breed. I think I have an extra air pump laying around somewhere, should I hook up a couple air stones?

Ok.
Yes put in the airstones. You can't have too much oxygen in there nor too much surface movement.
I would make a point, purely for peace of mind if nothing else, to ask the store if they're wild caught. Particularly if they are wild, I'd treat them for internal parasites. Can't tell from the pics if they are very skinny or not.
Got them feeding? Start with chopped worms (night crawlers) offer food at least twice a day
