Baby hystrix ate his first red worm today!! Been trying for a week, starved him for a day and a half and put the red worm in there and he nailed it, pretty aggressively too!!! Guy is about 3.5-4" disk and constantly eating! Thanks aquascapeonline

nice man my baby hystrix i got from aquascape was on blackworms but i didnt want to keep ordering them online i bought some red wigglers from a bait shop near buy cut it in half and he absolutley loves them. i have also got him on the small shrimp thats in the froozen slabs at petsmart. i guess he has leaned if he doesnt eat it my oscars will so he just jumps on everything in the tank also eating out of my hand. aquascape did do a fantastic job on there hystrixs in stock and thinking of getting another one from them.
Good to hear! Mine hasn't taken to the frozen or ghost shrimp yet. Only a matter of time, my festae seem to take a liking to the ghost shrimp and I don't think anyone else has a chance to get to them!
None of my rays would touch the red wigglers I bought. But they all love frozen bloodworms and the larger male hystrix is also eating baby nightcrawlers.
ive had my 3 hysterix over a month any they only still eat red wigglers. about 5 each 2" long, ive tried mixing the other food with worms, raw shrimp, tilapia, squid,pellets, striped bass chunks ,and frozen silversides, nothing. there growing good on worms. 6" plus.
my retic is eating primarily frozen shrimp, he will sometimes eat worms but the shrimp is his favorite. I am trying to get him on pellets and tilapia but he is not having that so far haha
