I was thinking about starting a small saltwater tank but I dont know where to start. I thought the 30 gallon bio cube was pretty cool but is it too small or should I start with something smaller? Also I want to make it a nano reef because I think that would be a little more exciting. What fish would be good to start out with? I wanted to put in a couple of fire fish and a clown but I dont know if they are good for starting or not.

Oh and would I need to get any additional parts for the reef like a skimmer or different lights? I'm pretty sure the bio cube has bright enough lights for a reef though. Also I forgot to ask what kind of live rock and coral I would put in.

Live rovings just rock with bacteria on it to assist in filtering your water. You can put what ever kind you would like. As for lighting, corals require intense lighting for photosynthesis. You can put some coral on the standard biocibe but your options are far better with the hqi line. As for fish this is really your preference. Some clown species are pretty hardy so they can be a more forgiving fish to start with.
