First spawn, how long before I remove fry.

my Umbee s finally spawned and Was wondering how long before you guys pull out fry. I always would leave the first batch for as long as I could but wondering if it is OK to remove some earlier as I really want to grow these guys out. Thanks

You can pull them as soon as they hatch if you want. I prefer to pull them after they are free swimming.

Indeed it's more of a personal preference thing, though it do vary depending on species. Certain aggressive fish will kill each other if their fries disappear suddenly. Or not. I don't really remove mine because my actual breedin projects take place in a small tank so I remove the parents after the eggs hatch.

Mine stay in for a month or so and I let mom and dad do their thing. I dont usually pull till the parents look like theyre about to spawn again putting the fry in danger.

+1. Then you can pull more out if another spawn is on it's way later if you like.

I would leave them in there since thins is the first spawn and see how the parents do. but if u do decide to remove them make sure that u use the same water out of the parent tank and make sure it stays at the same temp a SUDDEN SHOCK will kill off fry. Better yet leave fry in tank and remove parents if possible

Ya I will pull out a net full and leave the rest, everyone says f1 can turn out nicer then parents, if so gonna have some nice umbee
