Hey comrads: Finally got my first diy sump flowing smoothly.
75gal, 15gal sump, 5gal bucket. Media,a few ceramic o rings at bottom of bucket with lava rocks, eggcrate, and the rest is scrubbies. my tank is noticeably clearer but not transparent like i've seen in the galleries. Is there anything else i need to do to get that transparent affect?
Mind you, that my sump has been running 4 only one full day now.nontheless, i'm happy.:grinno:
Heres a few questions i need answers 4.
1. Is it a need to put a second diy skimmer in tank which will be plumbed to the first skimmer and into the same sump to get that Crystal clear affect?
2. When should i remove the the other Ho fliters since i've got my sump up and running?
I want to build another sump 4 my 29gal tank and prehaps for my 20gal tank. but this time i'd like to use a small rubbermaid as sump and a three draw dresser as my media holder. is there any threads with pic on how to build one. i have 6 tanks in my 1 bedroom apt so space saving is a must. Thanks to all...
I'd like to give a big thanks shout-out to Dr Joe and Chompers 4 helping me to figure out how to post new theads.... again Thanks!!!

Just add some super fine mechanical filter media to the sump. that should help you clear it out.

One other thing, if you pump is drawing water from the bottom of the sump, then you will be recirculating non filtered debris. It might take a couple filter pads to get this all cleared out.

thanks for that info. So now i can remove the other filters from thank? the only filter i want to keep is my rena XP3.Am i right with this,or do i wait another week or so?
