Well I made a paint sketch up of what my sump will be. I can't draw, sketch, paint, or anything so using paint on a laptop doesn't make it better, so bear with me with the pic.:nilly:

Now with that taken care of, here's the sump. It's for a 125, FYI.

1.Does this look good, everything looking alright sides the fact that I can't draw, lol.:D

2.I really don't know if I need the sponge after scrubby part but it just looked empty and wasteful after them. Should I keep the sponge? Add something else at that part?

3. Are Quiet One pumps good? I'm really interested in them. I'm thinking about the 4000 model at 5 foot of head it's 700gph, and at most I would have 5 feet if that really. 5.6X turnover not too bad, anyone else use these pumps?

It will be a wet/dry sump, the top peice over the scrubbies will be acrylic with holes drilled in it.

:)

for the quiet one pumps... iwas actually going to buy the 4000 HIGH HEAD model since its on sale at Dr F and S for my diy cannister.. but the sump looks good.

Yeah I saw the HH one and it was $104 and the regular was like 75. But the HH one used like twice the watts, so didn't want to spend 25 more than use more watts. Better GPH, but nah. Hope your DIY canister works out. Thanks for the input.

lol it does use double the watts haha nvm ill prob get the regular 4000 for 62 bucks and then i have a 5 dollar off coupon so i'm set lol... and thanks good luck with the sump

1) Yes, it will work fine, you can place some poly-fil on top of the drip plate as a pre-filter,
Print that out and let Mom put it up on the frig. (Mom's like anything ;))
(and yes, I did see how old you are :D)

2) The second sponge is optional, S/W guys use it to remove any bubbles coming out of the filter area. You can put fiber-fil there to help polish the water a little bit more too.

3) Quiet One pump are a staple of the industry, you'll do fine with one.
