Greetings Monster Fish Keepers,
This is my first post about my first Cichlid tank I set up 9 weeks ago. I've just started really getting into being an aquariast and I'm already "hooked". I have been on these forums so many times over the last few weeks it made sense to join you guys n gals.
Here are my tank parameters:
55 gallon with UGF filter (no powerhead yet, just airlines) and AquaClear 70. I do 10% water changes every three days conditioned with Prime and PH is 7.8. Fish are fed well (I think) on Hikari Blood Worms, spirulina flakes and veggies. Currently stocked with 1-2" EBJD and 2-4" Blood Parrots.
I recently purchased a lovely baby EBJD, about 2 inches. Tough little bugger came to the tank, got ick and now fights my 2 BPs for food. I'd love to get him/her to adulthood.
I've been eyeing putting a baby Severum in the tank as well.
My question is: will the Severum grow so much quicker than the EBJD and begin bullying it?
From my research, I understand that with proper conditions the Severum will grow to 6-7 inches in the first year while the EBJD will grow to 4, maybe. Not sure if the EBJD will be able to defend itself. It's fairly docile with the two BPs. Very little aggression in the tank currently.
