hey guys i want to turn my 29 gallon into a planted tank i really like the mix of rocks and driftwood with some plants id prefer something that is low maintenance (lol?) and also stunning to look at,

colors would be great :) maybe some flowers, bamboo sticks? and of course the tall grass looking stuff, not really a fan of floating plants however,..

also, what all is needed for a plant tank, co2?, special lights?, special filter media? substrate's?(want sand)

and here is my wish list for stocking (or my gf's rather)

2x Blue Ram
12x-18x mix (tetras, mollies, guppies)
1-4 shrimp (cardinal, amano, ghost,bamboo)
5-6 Panda Cory's
maybe an african dwarf frog or 2

Tank (LxDxH): 30 x 12 x 18 inch
Filters: Aquaclear 110

also my ph is 7.2 and hardness is 70 ppm if those are needed (measurements from my 55)

you could go with some brazillian pennywort, spiral val, anubias, java ferns, and mosses all with standard t8 bulbs, i am growing all of them in my 55. I have a playsand substrate with only fish as my source of nutrients for the plants

a lot of stock for a 29 g

can i get a second opinion on this, thought it would be ok, seeing as all these fish stay small,. i also have no problems with a weekly 25-35% water change

will definitly have to have some anubia and java fern,

would love to have moss for the background, maybe a a slim 3d one and try to make it grow on it (suggestions?)

is Ludwigia Peruenis reccomended?

Overstocking is all relative to how well you maintain it. With your heavy duty filter and water changes, you'll have no problems with that many fish, especially since they are small. I have 30 fish in my 75 gallon, now that is over-stocked but the tank is well managed so no problems. I do have plans on separating the fish in the near future though into different tanks

Will have to agree. it does depend on how well u take care of it! also remeber u said something bout gettin two different live-bearers tht pop lil ones out left n right! look forward to seein ur setup tho

I have now found moss to be a pain, mine grows rapidly and my fish knock pieces off and they get stuck in my filter intake
