im setting up a 100 gallon to breed a pair of red texas flower horn. what kind of set up do i need, like decoration? i seen people using clay pots for the eggs, but i want it to have like a more realistic felling. i was thinking about rock, is that ok, will it do harm to the eggs, will the fish breed. hope it work:headbang2

if you want a more natural feel...... use flat rocks or get some slate pieces

bare bottom is better ull lost less fry

how is that ill lose less fry if i have a bare bottom? i have some real sand in the tank thats about 1" thick, will that be a problem.

having a bare bottom tank is good for breeding for the male to easily fertilize eggs. if you have sand in your tank well it's not a big deal to have problem actually, flower horns will dig and spit sand to another and form a bare bottom tank in one side. putting clay pot is also good for the female to easily pump eggs out because clay pots make the eggs automatically stick to it. having a tank without clay pot is not also a problem, female will lay eggs on the glass and that makes the male to fertilize all without loosing some unfertilized eggs to be fertilize.

yeah, go bare bottom when breeding

Sand's ok IMO. They dig nurmerous pits all the way to the base.

Add at least 3 decent size places for them to choose to breed. And several caves incase the females needs a retreat.
