I have a 265 gallon tank set up that I'm ready to stock. I've been looking into the ocellaris and I'd like to ask for some help.

First of all, I have read many different numbers in different sites about their average length full grown in an aquarium, what is your experience with the growth rate and adult size? Also do they do better in pairs or by themselves? I'd like to just get one but if it's a lot better for them I'll get more.

I'm going to be socking the tank with a few other vieja cichlids.

Any other care tips or anything would be appreciated

Thanks!

They do okay by themselves but they are really fun to watch while in a small group.

This is true personally you'll see a different fish with 4bass total in there with some of the other fish and I love the colors of the occels when mine shows them off

Ocellaris grow to 2' plus Viejas only grow about 17" ocellars also grow fast so keep a eye on the vieja but in a 265they should be okay
