330 Gallons is my goal. Dimensions are as follows.

Length- 85"
Depth- 45"
Height- 20"
330 Gallons.:D

I want the tank to look nice obviously. Rounded edges. and super clear acrylic. I will spend the extra cash if i have to, to make it look nicer. I know its going to be expensive, and dont bother with suggestions for filtration, lighting, or heat. I got it all covered. The one thing i need to know is this:

Who makes the best acrylic for aquariums? Id like everyone to post a few different sources they trust. my LFS is trying to screw us royaly. So ill be doing it myself. I have read the DIY guide but i know it will differ. According to my dimensions does ne one suggest anything thicker then 1"?

Another question is the stand for this. Will total construction with 2x6's be enuf? i mean a load of them. all around and thru the center, with a 1" Sheet ontop of that for the tank to sit on. Leveled and sanded all down of course. I know what im doing for everything but the plastic itself.

Thanks in advance! Peace.

Height = depth. Which one is width?:D

2'x6' will be sufficient if properly constructed.

Glad to see you have everything so well in hand, so then you'll just have to post finished pix ;).

Good Luck,

this is my stand for my 125...super strong...i would be confident in this design to support a tank your size. the wood cost me 28 bucks to make the frame....however yours will be a little bigger...i think you could use either 2x6's or 2x4's..id be happy to help you redesign on that will fit your tank...mine works awesome...pm if u have any questions

So the depth of the water is the same as the width of the tank? :D

Normally we go Length x width x height, but I've only traveled thru Ohio, never stayed there:ROFL:.

Where's is grim3473 anyway????

Dr Joe

.

He built the tank, but his dog ate it....

Length is Length
Depth is Width
Height is Height (depth of water.)

We need to come up with new words :nilly:

for a tank only 2 ft tall, u only need 1/2 inch acrylic. 2 by 6's will be fine. i used them on my 450.

We need to come up with new words :nilly:
:ROFL::ROFL:
Length = End to End/Side to Side :) 8 feet long
Depth/Width = Front to Back/Back to Front :) 4 feet deep/wide
Height = Top to Bottom/Bottom to Top :) 2 feet high
8X4X2 = BIG 479g's
But then, what if it's a cube. What is the front ? and what is the side?
And if it's a cylinder? Ahhh hell, nevermind, I'm hosing myself now.
Makes (sort of) sense to me. :nilly::nilly::nilly:
