Ok so I threw in about 20 feeders to my fish about the time the fight started last night. After Roy Jones won I was out like light bulb. But when I got up to turn all the tanks lights out there were still about 12 feeders left. So I got up this morning thinking I could go see some action! All the feeders but one were all gone. Now I know for sure my fish eat in the dark but something told me to go check my first tray. This is where the ceramic is. Wow there were three feeders still flopping around! Great got to see some more action. But is the only way to feed feeders is to turn off the sump?

no u can put a mesh ( a very fine one with big holds) over the intake which will prevent feeders form getting in W/D

Was that supposed to read Not a very fine one, but not big holes either?

^i hope so. scullcraca if the mesh is too fine it will get plugged and overflow u'r tank all over the place, dry up u'r sump, and kill u'r pump. just make sure it's just small enough to not fit feeders through so it doesn't have much of a chance of plugging up or restricting too much flow

you should really have a mechanical stage though before the ceramic. It will work the way you have it but your bio its gunna get really messy.

I have it immediately after the ceramic. I use to make ceramic for a living so I used mixed sizes and angled surface for higher attraction in the first drip tray and plus it just the way the sump is set up.

I have durisso Stand pipes that I made already and I think I am going to put the recommended DIY screen as well so with both screens I shouldn't have a problem.

But half the point of the mechanical stage is to keep the bio stage from getting full of crud. I would change the setup and add a screen because it is setup is backwards. Unless you really like scubbing ceramic I guess.

Its like putting an airfilter in your cars exhaust...its already gone through the engine
