This weekend will be picking up some tea cup ray and it's my first time owner rays. I am starting out with small and cheap ray for now to get some experience and knowledge of from it.

What do I need to know about them?

Thanks

From everything I've seen, teacups are not necessarily the easiest ray to keep. A motoro is a more hardy species to my knowledge. It's more expensive, sure, but will tolerate a wider range of conditions.

Man, John must love you! Get a motoro instead, much cooler. Teacups are a PITA, if you plan on putting them in with a 16" jar and multiple dats, go with at least a 8-10" motoro so that it has a fighting chance for food. I don't think teacups will fair well trying to get food in that situation. Please don't just get them b/c they are cheap.

I agree unless you get a good size ray they will starve.Stickyrice>I had a pair of Leos one time,i learned a ton about rays in the five years i worked with them.

Honestly though sticky I would start with a motoro... It is much easier to get it on all different foods and like it was said teacups actually aren't the easiest to care for but its up to you

i agree get a motoro. depending on the price, if you end up losing the "teacups", which i hope that doesnt happen, 2-3 teacups is the same price as 1 motoro unless you have real good connections.

Retics will NOT live in your tiger tank (if that is where you putting them).

lots of dats + rays = pain in the arse to feed.... i had 7 with a black aro and 2 Tgars and was feeding about a pound of shrimp every day to get food to the rays....

motoros would be your best bet for a starter ray...
