Hello everyone, this is my first post here on monsterfishkeepers but I have been looking at the site for quite some time. I have lately been interested in upgrading tank sizes from my 46 bowfront up to a 75-150 depending on the room I can make in my house. I was wondering how much in all of your opinions a peacock bass or two needs. I understand they get large but I like to hear real opinions instead of articles online. Thanks alot everyone.

try posting this in the cichla section (under the CA/SA cichlids forum). any species of pbass will require a tank bigger than 150 if being kept for life. if you go with the smaller growing species, you could do with a 240 for life. an 8x2 footprint is a good size to start with

depending on how much you wish to spend you could get a Cichla kelibri, not sure how you spell it. They are the smallest species of pbass. You could keep 2 in a 150.

thanks. Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I thought this would be the section to post under. So i'd have to get atleast a 150 it sounds like.

I think you could keep a kelibri in a 75 by itself

if you ever kept pbass before youll know that a 75 is a joke, and a 150g is borderline cruel. pbass are active and extremely fast moving. even a kelberi can get 16-18"+ easily in captivity

I have a oscar not pbass but I did research a little about the different species and there sizes. A kelberi could fit in a 75, plain and simple, but as always bigger the tank the better.

if you dont own any pbass stop giving bad advice :wall: i dont understand how you can justify keeping a fish that can reach 18" in a tank thats 48x18x21 :screwy:

this is R1s old 600g tank. fish with a red line are kelberi. this tank is 8x4x2.5. now you tell me, would one of those fit in a 75g? :screwy:

to the OP, do me a favor and post this question in the cichla forum. youll get some real advice

How many kelberis are in there I see two, the top red line points to the nose of one and the tail of the other, the other redline fish does not look to be a kelberi. I keep Largemouth bass wich compare very closly in behavior (so Iam told). The hole size thing is 16-18 nothing is marking in stone the fish will get this big it may only get 14 inchs each fish is different.

the fish with the red line pointing to the tails are kelberi. regardless, there is no species of cichla that can and should be kept in a 75g. end of story
