Hey guys this my first post on MFK always used it for research but never actually registered until now. However, i wanted to ask your experienced opinions on how a new arowana would fair with a pair of oscars and a jag. Ive done a ton of research on the silver arowana and I understand water and tank needs and requirements. Ive seen videos on youtube with aros, Os, and jags. they seemed to do fine. The tank i currently am housing my babies in is a standard 125 gal, with a fluval 405 canister filter with a biowheel filter of adequite size en route. but until it gets here i am using a over the top hanging 50 gal filter. Currently doing 33% water changes every 3 weeks - 1 month. Wondering how long my 125gal will house the aro in, taking into consideration an average to above average growth rate. Thanks!!:headbang2

If your oscars don't kill the aro, the aro should eventually kill the oscars. At least thats how it happened in my tank. Also, your gonna need a bigger tank and possibly weekly water changes.

Even if both are well fed? My oscars are actually the most docile fish in the tank other than the bottom feeders as far as starting trouble goes. I cant say for the arowana's aggression from experience but i have read that arowanas are not overly aggressive just have large appetites. I feed my Oscars very well and they dont seem to bother the smaller fish. The jag is the one that is most territorial.... not surprising

My 24" silver arowana was housed with a female jag10" and a pike 10" and 12" oscar for from the time he was 16" in a 150 gallon tank. The nobody messed with the arowana. The aro ran the tank till the jag and oscar died. He now with the same pike now 16" ,a 16" largemouth bass, 15" tsn, and a 12" common wolf fish. Only the lmb messes with the aro but only the bass ever gets any damage. It could work but you wouod have to get a large aro they are dosile and weak when small. I would say he needs to be around 14" or more to handle them. Depending on the size of your current fish. You will also need to do more water changes aro are sensative. My aros tank gets 1-2 50% water changes a week you would need to do at least one a week.
