I picked up a 125g from another forum, it is drilled and came with a Tidepool 2 Sump.

The sump is missing pieces, i am wondering if putting money into the sump would be worth it or not.
They seem to be pretty rare according to google.

Im thinking about building my own sump out of a 20L possibly.
Any suggestions?

This is my first time ever owning a sump.
Almost considering plugging the holes and running 2 canister filters.

Please give me a hand with this if you wouldnt mind.

Thank you
-Sean

Here is the Sump.

There should be 3 media trays above the Bio-Wheel, under the Media Trays there should be a water diverter which directs the water leaving the media trays
onto the Bio-Wheel.

Its really no big deal anymore, Ive come to realize that it would be cheaper for me to build my own sump out of a 20L i already have then it would be
to buy the replacement parts the Marineland Tidepool 2 needs.

Personally I would just build a sump using your 20g tank or a cheapo plastic tote. Just throw a plastic 3-drawer storage thing in it or use a 5g bucket and fill it with scrubbies and filter floss. If you already have the tank, it should only cost probably $20 to do.

Dont think i'll be doing a wet/dry on this aquarium.

2 Xp4's should be plenty.

You can sometimes find Tidepool parts at reasonable prices on eBay. If not, I have an extra biowheel, trays, and drip plate that I probably won't ever need.

Don't let it discourage you man. I felt the same when when I got my 125g off craigslist that was predrilled w/ a built in overflow. Now that I have a w/d sump running that I constructed and figured out how it all worked I couldn't be happier. It's a bit confusing at first but it's much simpler once you grasp the concept. I prefer it over any canister/hob filter any day. Here's the guide I followed to make mine. And I used flexi tube for plumbing instead of pvc. This WILL be way cheaper for you than any canister.

Not too discouraged, its just something i have no experience with and am not sure if i am ready to dive into it.

I would love to do a sump, it is not out of the question.

How do you figure out what size pump you need to pump the water from the sump into the tank?
