I saved this ahli from a dirty ass fish tub. he wont eat, he swims like he is disoriented i.e. vertical swimming, swims top water (sometimes with his dorsal even breaching water) He looks like he has the start of clout eye. Are these symptoms of a disease or directly related to the horrible water conditions he was introduced to? (the water was brown it was so bad) He was in a clean tank for months and was fine but started bullying other fish so he was thrown in a dirty fish tub. A week later I got him out of the tub and all these symptoms were apparent. The only other fish in the tub was a catfish so Im ruling out lip locking being related to this red mouth.

I'd be irresponsible to not scold you for putting a fish in nasty water, but I care more about your fish right now so I'm saving it for later.

Keep his water as pristine as you can (0 ammonia, 0 nitrItes, very low nitrAtes and a stable pH. If he doesntt start improving withing two or three days, try a broad spectrum antibiotic like erythromycin. This redness looks like an internal bacterial thing, but it could also be simple ammonia toxicity. Clean water will fix the toxic issue but may not fix it if it's now a deep bacterial problem.

Best of luck and more pics would help. Show us the fins for sure.

oh it wasnt me that did it. Im the one that went and rescued the poor guy. his fins definitely have ammonia burns on them. Ill get some more pics and keep ya updated.
