So a few days ago my Blood parrot started doing this weird thing where she just floats in the front of the tank in the top right cornerImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1343346379.226488.jpg
She only comes down when I come up to the tank or feed her,

I thought she might need some extra air so this morning I added a air pumpImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1343346467.982422.jpg
But she's still doing it, she is the king of the tank so she's not scared, and I do 35% weekly water changes.

Thanks in advance.

Thats just where she likes to hang out at.....hopefully it's nothing more than that.

Just a question, but the one picture has a parrot that has some serious stress markings. Is that his/her normal color? If not coud be a reason to check your parameters..ph, temp, nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia. The reason I ask is because Ive had a pair of parrots for years, many years. In the first 2 years one would show some stress black when the temp got whacky. Other than that his behavior could be for many reasons...waiting to be fed, lookin for oxygen, lookin for YOU, many reasons. Dont sweat it though.

Hi, thank you for the reply.

She has had that weird marking since I got her, I've had her for awhile and she doesn't just stay in one spot like that, she is usually swimming around,

That is why I'm posting this thread because I'm doing everything consistently, weekly 30% WC etc,
And then just out of the blue she starts doing this.

Im sure she'll be fine. They're a tough fish and go through phases as we do.

I forgot to add that when I walk up to the tank where she is she gets really aggressive and try's to bite me through the glass (which is not normal) she usually is a really shy fish

I'm pretty sure she isint trying to get air because I have an air pump running along with a Aqua clear 70

Could she have gotten spooked and banged her head or body againts something hard? Ive seen this in fish that have had so head trauma i had a fish do this once acting like yours and i was puzzled then eventually noticed blood collecting under the skin on the head apparently was bleeding internally from an injury. It stayed alive for a few but i put it down humanly because i figured it was suffering.

is the fish being bullied by another fish in the tank? I've had fish act like this but only because there was another aggressive fish in the tank that put it in the corner. If it continues to eat normally i wouldn't worry too much about it. Your parrot may just have taken a liking to that spot.

No she is the boss of the tank.
