fish acting strangely...

two of my fish are now starting to act kind of strange in the last two days. yestersay my albino zebra just sat at the bottom under my driftwood for the whole day and looked as if he was gonna die...so i figured it was due to the fact that my two bully fish i had that just did not belong in my african tank anyway must have hurt him so i got rid of the two and bought two more juvenile peacocks. and by the end of the day he started to move around, then eat, then today hes back to normal so i was happy with that. but then this morning i noticed that one of my yellow labs was just sitting at the bottom of my tank just motionless. and it hasnt really moved all day. and didnt even eat. im very worried about this because i do not want to lose him. so i checked all the paramaters and there all pretty normal except the ph its at 7.2 but i bought some upper for that. but i would have figured the rest of the fish would have the same problem if it where that. but i just recently noticed that theres a little scratch on him near the tail fin. it kind of looks like a very thin piece of skin is pealed off only about a 1/8 in. big. i was wondering if this could cause him to act this way or would it be the pH. or the loss or addition of new fish? i was looking in the listed diseases and it doesnt seem to fit under any categories but he is developing black vertical stripes which isnt good...so i was wondering if anyone knew what could be going wrong with him? n here is a list of my fish and equip for the tank.

-55gal
-whisper 60 filter
-undergravel filter with two power heads pumping as much oxygen in my tank cuz its only 6 week old tank to try n build algae.

-plant fertilizer once a week
-conditioner for every water change which has been small changes every other day for past two weeks

The lab could be stressed, maybe from the wound or something else. They are very hearty as Africans go so I wouldn't be too worried. Make sure you have some rocks/caves/slate in your tank so they have a place to hide out.

Keeping Africans in an environment with a PH of 7.2 is asking for trouble. You need to gradually bring that # above 8.0! Get some crused coral in that tank of yours!

ahh just found out that its a scrape near here tail fin. she must have caught a piece of slate. well should i treat her with external meds that i got, or let it heal on its own she is lookin a little better not as dark and moves a little more but still sets on the bottom most of the time. is this just there way of healing?
