I have a blue phantom plec with tetras and cory cats in a 20 gal and all was well this morning but added a small pad of acurel ammonia reducing pad to filter and fed fish and now after maybe 3 hours after adding pad and 30 mins after feeding everything is breathing heavy includeing the plec and the plec also fans self withfins every few mins wat could be going on and wat should I do added some neutral regulator and stress zyme to hopefully counter part of prob

pleco is really not good he is breathing hard with mouth open any help will do I don't want to lose the plec
Try removing the pad and increase airation. What are your water perameters, Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate PH?
removed pad and replaced with cut ehiem carbon pad and put a very powerful battery operated aireator in tank today everything is fine I noticed the filter was dirty so wat I think happened was when I added new pad bactieria didn't have enough oxegen and ammonia spiked I cleaned it this morning im not feeding for day and adding stress zyme to help biological filter
