Ok, I read a while back that fish react differently to different colors. I also ready (more specifically) that parachromis managuensis don't like red. I shrugged it off thinking it was silly, but I got home from work today wearing my red uniform, and my managuense freaked out. Normally when I sit in front of the tank he's happy to see me and wags his tail like a dog, but today when he saw me he splashed and flailed around. So I just wanted to know if there are any people who have studied this or experienced it themselves? I wanna know what colors calm a fish and what aggregate it. I don't doubt the color thing anymore, now I just wanna learn more about it:)

Best way to interact with your fish is shirtless.

Arowanas are notorious for their aversion to red, as well. Whenever I'm wearing a red shirt, I always have to take it off before I even enter the room my 225 is in, because otherwise my aro responds as if it is being attacked by a shoal of piranhas, and usually ends up injuring itself.

I used to have a red T-shirt that terrified all my fish. I mainly wear dark colors now and they are okay with that. White towels and shirts send them running, too.

This is interesting...I do find occasionally my fish freak out when I am wearing certain clothing. Havn't linked it to any specifics yet though. The last time I remembered it was happening I was wearing my Tae Kwon Do uniform and they were going berserk.

Lol interesting. Sucks my wardrobe consists of red and white though lol. Any other experiences? I find this really interesting. Also, are there any colors that make them happy / express more color

My big tiger Oscar flips out every time I wear my Dos Equis hat. Shirt colors don't seem to bother him but he hates the hat.

The biologist i work with did a study on fish and found out fish recognize color and shape. He had different shapes and colors and behind one was an opening done with colored shapes then just shapes alone and then just color and fish would choose the right hole. Btw this was conducted using gambusia(mosquito fish). So you can imagine more intelligent fish remember and react to more.
