One of my neon tetra's right eye is protruding a lot and it keeps looking at itself in the black back of my tank where it can see its reflection of the glass and turning towards the right as if to get a better view of the eye.

I think it recognizes its own reflection and sees its own eye and realizes that there's something wrong with it.

BTW, I'm trying to cure it and if anyone has suggestions please say so.

I'm almost 100% sure that fish lack the brain power to recognise their own reflection. Recognising your own reflection has only been observed in humans and apes.

agree, they see their reflection and might actually "think" there is another fish there but i seriously doubt they think see theirselves.
