I would like to setup a new tank (150 to 180 gal.) I had a great tang collection back in the early 1980s, back then most where wild caught,
anyway I noticed that most of the LFS (San Diego) cater to the salt water people, I'm looking for suggestions on where to get a good variety of fish, I've had good luck mixing shellies and fonts in large tanks, the only guy I had to get a solo tank for was a large Tetracanthus.I bought it when it was the size of a dime, it got to be approx 10" long, loved to eat young brichardi.
Any local places or do I need to buy and get them shipped?
Thanks in advance.

As a rule, most online sellers are very reputable. Shipping is usually not too much of a problem. San Diego was a hotbed of Rift Lake cichlid activety, but I guess situations change.

I would try Petkingdom.

I went to Petkingdom, not much there,
the freshwater mgr (Ron) was one of my sources back in the day
I guess saltwater is just more popular, been there done that.

I have the same prob in GA this weekend my husband and I drove all around searching and checking out local fish stores. We finally found an awesome fish store in an asian plaza with ridiculous amounts of silver arowana's and asian arowana's! We also scored a spotted gar! check out www.lfslocater.com it gives you a good listing of local fish stores in the area.

I ordered online from www.tfdfish.com my fish were healthy when I got them, but my needlefish were a bit skinny, but after a week 4 of them had died!! My water quality was good so idk what the problem was, maybe stress? But a couple of the fish I got from them are still doing well, they had the best selection and cheapest prices online I could find.
