Fish by plane Success!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All they did to me is Hand Check, they said they were gonna put a test strip in it, but all they really did is look at it. They did not run anything with Scanners

I guess the fact they saw the fish swimmin around was enough proof it was just water in the bag...

Good to hear everything turned out okay with no problems.

Where did you get them from?

Could you provide more details:

What did you carry them in?

Did the TSA know their own rule or did you have a print-out?

Did the airline give you problems?

Etc.

Thanks,
Matt

1. I took them in 2 Ziploc bags, these guys would nip at it causing holes so i rebagged. The 3.4 oz rule does not apply to bringing live fish on board! As long as it has enough water for the fish! But I suggest having a fish store bag them for you (Like if how they were to do in Petsmart) the latest possible. I had to keep opening the bag to give them air, but I was super tired so I was super close to dozing off and leaving the fish unattended. Fish flopping on airplane, no bueno!

2. At Check In, I guess you can say I was lucky, because there was a Supervisor at the first Check In (ID Check) I said to one guy "I have a question on bringing live fish on board, how exactly would I go about doing this?" He then looks at the bag and makes a face. The water was obviously way past the 3.4 oz. He then asked the supervisor, he said there wasnt a problem, just ask for a hand check when you get to the 2nd checkpoint (Where they check your items) When I got there, I asked for a hand check and this guy told me they were gonna dump the water and return the fish, i was like.... (O.O) But then they started laughing so from there on out, everything was gonna go well. They never put the test strip in it (They said they were) They gave me back the fish and boom, i went home!

3. The airline didnt mind, its the TSA guys you have to worry about LOL

So you brought them in your carryons?
