okay so i bought a small black aro for $100.
When I went to this LFS, the place was FILTHY. alot of the tanks were crowded or very dirty. the water was BROWN.
I saw the black aro. it was for $100. Sure the place was filthy and all, but i trusted other people about this store so i gave it a shot and bought the fish.
i safely and gently placed it in a nice tank with 0 ammonia/nitrate/nitrite, 7.0 PH, planted tank with nice filter and air pump.
everything was going well but when i came back home at midnight, i saw my black aro DEAD.
I didnt understand because everything was fine.
But from what it looks like, the fish had a disease where it couldn't swim properly.
I went back to the LFS and asked for a refund/exchange and even talked nicely. He said NO and even pointed it to a very poorly seen sign stating their policies.
FIRST OF ALL, Its pretty important to tell the customers about the refund/exchange policy THE DAY the people buy the fish.
I didn't know about this policy because that was my first time going there.
At least give me store credit!!
I mean, other LFS give at least 1-3 days guarenteed to live or give store credit to avoid loss of money. but this store has no such policy.
Then he offered to sell me his bigger black arowana for $200 instead of $250... seriously? making me spend TWICE the amount of money that i lost for another one of your fish. I want my money/credit back, not pay more...
It seems to me that they only care about the money rather than the fish or the customers.
So an LFS with VERY FILTHY TANKS along with a NO GUARANTEED to live fish....
Yeah IM NEVER GOING BACK THERE.
I CAN CARE LESS IF THEY HAVE A NICE VARIETY. IF THE FISH ARENT IN HEALTHY CONDITIONS, THEN THEYRE NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
and if i were you, I'd do the same and go to another LFS that at least makes sure their fish are healthy and actually care for their customers like Jan's Tropical Fish in Montclair or Brea Tropical Fish near Brea Mall. THEY CARE FOR YOUR FISH and Brea actually does trade-ins too. Jan's has a 10% coupon on their website for any and all livestock and the owners are very friendly and knowledgable and will only help you with their advice.
