TEXAS
Well I bought myself a 100G tank Sat. filled it with gravel, water and some big rocks I had. I went out yesterday with my cast net and picked up a few fish; with the Texas Cichlid being my target spps. (they're all around where I live). Well, I caught 1 Texas, 1 Bluegill, 2 black tailed shiners and some type of darter (green throat I'm guessing). I also picked up a few aquatic plants and planted them in the aquarium. I've kept TX Cichlids before and the usually rule the tank. Thus far however, the bluegill is relentlessly chasing him all over the tank. They are both the same size (about 4 inches) but the cichlid thus far spends all of his time hiding in the weeds. I'm hoping once he gets used to his new tank, the tides will turn. I need some more holey rock for him (and the darter) to hide in; so thats in the plans for this weekend. That and hopefully a few Mexican Tetras. Anyone ever had a bluegill rule the roost over a TX cichlid? :screwy:

Where are you in Texas, I catch plenty of Mexican Tetras:D

I'm in Uvalde, TX. They're usually pretty easy to catch but I need to go to Del Rio where they're easy. Heck, there's even pleco's in the springs there so I may pick up one of those too.

I've heard of bluegills ruling many types of fish. They can be very very nasty.

Yeah, I tried putting minnows in with mine and the little sh*t killed every last one of them.

yeah 1 of my buddies caught a bluegill and put it in with 2 oscers it killed 1 in the night and beat the other into submission they were all about 8".it suprised me i did not no they were capable of that either and that was the end of the bg he went to the frying pan and left 1 oscer for the 55 it worked good for the o after took his wooping.
