Hey Everyone,
I am going to upgrade my 100 gallon(5'x18"x20") to a larger tank. Either a 180(6'x2'x2') or a 350(6'x3'x3'). In the new tank i want to have a colony of Frontosa along with some Black Face and maby some cyps or somthing. Does anyone think that this combo would work or have any advice?
-Thanks in advance

Enantiopus melanogenys Zambia= Black Face. I will buy either of the tanks, my spot will fit either, depending on what i can find.

Fronts natural food source is cyps, and they'll snack on the enantiopus at night too. I would go the 180 and ditch the fronts. A tank of cyps and enantiopus is an ideal mix. They will occupy different zones in the tank, have similar dietary needs, will both spawn when kept together, and neither will eat fry.

OK thanks what would be a good stock list for either of the tanks I donk care what the fish are except for that they are form tanganyika and I like big fish

I think it would be fine, I never heard of fronts eating other fish

I understand that the cyps might get eaten but i dont think that the black face would, especially if they grow up together. Do you guys agree or disagree?

I've never heard of Cyprichromis being a Frontosas natural food source since Fronts live so deep and Cyprichromis live so shallow. But the Frontosa could eat a cyprichromis.

They are opportunistic feeders at night. They eat cyps that are sleeping on the bottom. Enantiopus sleep in a similar fashion and the fronts will eat them as well. I've had them eat tropheus, and lamprologines too. It may take a while, but at some point you WILL loose fish due to the front "snacking" at night when the lights are out.

If I had a spare 180 around I would go enantiopus and then add benthochromis tricoti and cyps to fill the top of the tank. It would be a killer looking tank.

As long as i keep the frontosas feed well would they even worry about eating the enantiopus? Even though the Frontosas might get 1' + the enantiopus get over 6". I just cant see that happening. Although i have had flowerhorns kill and eat other flowerhorns almost as big as them.
