Fish comps / shows

I see the term "show quality" used quite a bit in regards to the fish we keep. Now i never seen or heard of any Aquarist competitions or shows, do they exists? Only asking as some of you guys have made some brilliant comments about a green terror of mine and im wondering weather he could actually be "show quality".

yes they do exist. Mostly for Koi and Discus

The ACA has a show and contest each year at their convention, there are many fields, categories based on geography and size, body perfection, etc. I believe the GCCA does to, as do many aquarium societies.
I've been to the ACA, and the winners are amazing.

Not sure if British Cichlid Association (BCA) has shows but there are lots in the US.
