Ok I am getting my fish delivery on thirsday there getting deliverd at my bros house, im getimg silv arow, ind tiger, and my bros getting snakeheads there all around the 7 inch mark except the tiger about 4 inch any way itll be about 2 hours before I can get lift to my house will my 2 fish be ok for that period of time floating in the bag in my bros tankk? Itll be about a 3 hour journey to my bros then 2 hours in my bros tank in bags. Will my fish be fine for that long in a bag?

not a problem, fish sit in bags at swap meets for that long not including the time before the meet starts and the time to get home

I would not even float the bags. Just keep them in their box the whole way till you get home. Thats what I would do

I'de leave them in the box as well... and don't open the bags! soon as they are the ammonia will skyrocket. also if this is your first time w/ shipped fish I reccomend def investing in a small bottle of Amquel or similar that targets ammonia, and give each bag a nice squirt as soon as it gets opened.

Yeah thats why i never float them, I heard the ammonia rises and spikes as soon as it warms up or it is opened and tank water is allowed in. Something happens to the water in the bag. Someone a lil smarter could elaborate properly. I also know a vendor on MFK that told me, It takes fish two weeks to get use to their new water. So he basically dumps the fish in right away. I still drip rays in and other sensitive fishes.

Not sure if the temp rise is accurat or not.. but once the bag is opened the water is exposed to "open air" and the ammonium in the water ( a non-toxic form of ammonia) starts converting to ammonia... which causes a spike. I've always opened new boxes of fish and done a "short acclimation".... essentially bringing the temps as close as I can and water perameters. Then net and dumping the fish. I've found in general GH/KH differences to effect my fish the most other them temp. I honestly can't give a scientific % on how I do it.. as I do it by ear "feel" but approx 10% every 10 minutes I shoot for in acclimating. once the water hits 50% I test the bag water to my tank water and either net and dump or go from there.
