I figure I would like to ask some opinions on my fishes diets to see if i'm varying it up enough to keep my fish growing healthy, anything I should consider adding i'd appreciate the suggestion.

Senegal Bichirs - Both nearing 4"
Main Food: Beefheart (Daily)
Secondary Food: Occasional Shrimp Pellets or Freeze Dried Bloodworms (maybe twice a week)
Treat: Live Ghost Shrimp (usually throw in a few each week)

African Brown Knife - 5"
Same Foods as Bichirs, just too big of a wuss to eat ghost shrimp

Opaline Gourami - 2.5"
Main Food: Omega One Freshwater Flakes
Secondary Food: Omega One Freeze-dried bloodworms (3-4 times/week)
Unintentional: Often eats bits of beefheart and shrimp pellets if they bichirs leave any scraps

Giant Danios - 2"
Main Food: Omega One Freshwater Flakes
Secondary Food: Omega One Freeze-dried bloodworms (occasionally eat some when feeding gourami) & Shrimp Pellets (often snag one or 2 while feeding them to bichirs and ABK)

Firemouth Cichlid - 1.5"
Main Food: Omega One Freeze-dried Bloodworms
Secondary Food: Shrimp Pellets (3-4 times weekly)
Treat: Small bits of beefheart/raw shrimp

I know that I need to substitute some form of vegatable matter in to the danios diet (i've heard romaine lettuce and zuchinni can be good? input or suggestions?) - are there any other areas that you guys thing my fish are missing out on nutritionally? I want my fish to live as healthy and hardy as possible, so thanks for all suggestions.

anything?

I'm not a big fan of beef heart. There are just so many other foods that are closer to fishes natural diet out there. Try krill or market shrimp for the bichirs. And I would try to stick to pellet food as the main staple, and other frozen, live or dried foods as secondary or treats. Earthworm are also a very good food, and you can usually dig em up for free, so long as there's no chemicals in use where you get them.

I agree.. beefheart is mammalian proteins/fat not fish/invert fat/proteins.. hard to digest and should only be given as a treat. My Sens LOVE NLS pellets, nightcrawlers, frozen krill/bloodworms. If you're looking for a veggi form Spirilinia ( sp?) Flakes are great. Roman lettuce, peas, and zucchini are also usually taken well, but not always.

I personally stick to a good pellet/flake and add frozen/live to it.

Personally, I prefer to vary my diets and eventhough some species are vegetarians, I still supplement with bloodworms, mysis, and carnivore diet. example with tropheus....many advise against anything but vegetarian diet, mine takes all sort of diet and the are thriving and most of all GROWING STEADILY!
Experimentation is the key:)MHO

hmm.. thanks for the input guys, i had the bichirs on raw market shrimp for a while but they had started eating it a bit less so i made the switch to beef heart cubes, once they've grown a bit more i was hoping to ween them back onto either the shrimp or i was gonna look into those hikari pellets i see lots of people talking about on here, i'll also look into those spirinula flakes for the danios
