I will start with some of my tank basics.

50 gallon
fake plants
aquarium gravel
Eheim 2217 and Fluval 1 Plus filters
Temp = 84... thermometer could be broken, water does not feel like 84.
Fish fed 2-3 times a day, Omega one fish flakes.
PH = Neutral
Ammonia = 0 ppm
Nitrites = 0 ppm
30-35% water change once a week.

Stocking :

4 Giant danios
3 platy's
Red tail shark
Sun catfish
Gold gourami
Royal fowerella
Raphael catfish.

NOW, here is the problem...

I brought most of these fish home the same day back a couple of weeks ago. Everyone seemed happy and fine. Out of nowhere one of my angle fish died. I figured 1 fish out of many was normal, considering it was a 5 hour trip back to the fish tank. Next day his andle fish buddy acted all weird, staying to himself in the corner and bam, a day after that, he died. Then my german ram, and today, a giant danio.

I noticed on the angel fish that 1 of there eyes came out more then the other, and today on the danio, both of his eyes where shot out far from its head.

Now I watch all my fish, a lot, and never see anything wrong with them. I always wake up to this. I do not understand why this is happening and would like to stop is as soon as possible.

Thank you.

It's possible the red tail shark could be picking on the other fish. Do you also have plenty of aeration in the water with a temp of 84?

Shark does not seem to pick on anyone. He chases some fish around but for the most part keeps to himself. I have no other aeration other then the filters moving the water.

No need to keep your tank at 84 degrees. Drop the temperature to 76 - 78. If your fish have bulging eyes, that is usually a bacterial infection called popeye. Popeye can be treated with medication. If you don't wish to medicate, add some salt to the tank. The salt will help.

What is your nitrate level? How long was the tank set up before you stocked it?

I have no heater in the tank. I have a canopy with 4 of the 60 watt equivalent cfl, so like in total, 60 watts. I have the lid open so that it can cool down, I do not know why it reads so high. I do not know my nitrate levels but I will only assume low because of my frequent water changes.

I had the tank set up for about a week before I added 2 platy's and the sun cat. I then waited a month and a half before adding everyone else.

I agree that it coukd be an infection. May have been in one and spread to the others during transport or when home in one tank.
