I found this airline tubing stained with methylene blue just 5 yards away from the river where I was hiking. I find it difficult to come to any other conclusion than aquarium fish were dumped in the river. I've said it a thousand times, I'll say it again. NEVER dump aquarium fish into the wild. The spread of exotic fish and of exotic diseases will lead to the end of the availability of fish for the hobby. There is no way to tell how the introduction of a species to an environment will impact it. If you can't keep your fish, euthanize them, find another home for them, or don't buy fish that you can't keep.

I suppose it's possible they were collecting natives for a tank and had a battery powered air pump and for some reason left the airline. :) You're probably right though! Where was this?

Almost as infuriating is the fact that people continue to destroy the beauty of parks and wildlife refuges by dumping their trash everywhere. I can't tell you how many times I've been out and collected a full garbage bag of trash while walking down my local bike trail... disgusting.

I doubt it. The only reason that one would need airline tubing is to oxygenate your catch. If you left the tubing behind, you are not oxygenating your catch. Also, in that area the fish you are most likely to catch are carp, freshwater drum, catfish, and bullheads.

It's possible that it was from a pump from someones bait bucket. I use a 5 gallon bucket with an air pump. And one of the bait shops that I buy bait from uses something in their water that stains my tube.

I've had the same experience. I found a full bag of garbage at the wildlife refuge. I got some gloves out of my car and dug through the bag. The idiots put their mail in the bag. Called the cops and had them pay a visit.

If someone is ignorant enough to dump a fish i dont think they'd care enough about its well being to oxygenate its water

That's messed up but I'm from Minnesota to! It could of been from someone's bait bucket there some good catfish fishing down there

It's possible, but I am skeptical. I know all of the bait stores in the immediate area. None of them use malachite green or methylene blue.
