ok, so around 30 mins ago, i feed my 2 goldfish their usual pond pellets they have eaten for the last year, and both fish came right to the top as usual, started eating, and acted perfectly fine.

come back 15-20 mins later from the store, and suddenly the comet is floating around the tank, not breathing, and mouth hanging wide open. dead as a doornail.

wtf could have possibly gone wrong in such a short period of time??

He could have been scared or choked on food.

Typically a sudden fish death comes from one of two things. 1. It was their time. 2. Something in their environment changed drastically. A couple of things to think about. Is the other one fine, acting normally, no clamped fins, ect? Did you do the dishes or laundry before you fed the fishes? Whens the last water change? Are you using a heater, and if so, is it stuck on? whats the tank temp? Did you do any cleaning or spray any aerosols in the room?
As you can see, there are alot of things that could have happened. Any more info you could give us would help us to nail down the diagnoses alot easier.
I'm sorry for your loss. My fish are my freinds, And I feel their deaths very dearly, so I understand, and sympathize.

that sucks man :(

happend to me with my 5 inch pictus catfish :'(
went to school, came back and 2 were dead, then the last 1 died 10 mins later....

worst day ever..but my columbian shark was fine :/

Sorry for your loss, did you cange anything in the tank that might have had an effect?
Or spray any deoderant or somthing close to the tank this kills stuff especially if you have an airator that pumps the fumes into the tank.

did u check your water parameters?
