I just got some new fish to my tank, including three african butterfly fish - and now after a couple of hours they are swimming upside down.

The tank should be 23.8 degrees atm, and I know they should have 25 but is this leathal? Im at work and cant get home to raise the temp until 4 hr.. frustration level high

thanks for answers

its 120g, I dont know how to manage water parameters and the new lfs-owner never even kept fish so I doubt he could help

Got a in-tank filter and the water circulation is good. Tank has been cycling since monday with plants, a hoplo and that blue liquid used for cycling.

My girlfriend raised the temp to 25, but shes not there to check on them.

The problem is surely not the temperature; 1.2 degree is no big deal. I bet you have an ammonia problem, one week is not enough to cycle a tank.

not the temp- maybe bad fish if the lfs owner never kept fish...

Problem solved - my girlfriend thought they looked up side down, but they werent.

Unfortunally, when I came home one f the three was in really bad shape and the other two were biting at it, and it died during the night.

All the other fish are happy and eating already.

Just a word of advice, with a new tank it should be run for a week or two to build up beneficial bacteria to deal with food and fish waste, also regular water changes are a must , while new tank is building up just drop some food in there for couple days then remove it before you put fish in, does help eith building up good bacteria but don't let food go rotten, you can also buy water ager, its an additive with beneficial bacteria already to go and speeds up the process, watch for ammonia and nitrite/nitrate levels.

good to hear they doing ok though
