I was trying unsuccessfully to find the thread discussing whether candiru and the like could actually swim up the urethra. A lot said it was nonsense, but I've just read an article in practical fishkeeping magazine that says otherwise... apparently there is a new beauty treatment involving laying in a tub of small live eels. Some guy in china was undergoing the treatment when he felt a sharp pain. One of the eels (asian swamp eel) swam up the end of his penis, worked its way up his urethra and ended up in his bladder. Docs spent 3 hours removing the 6 inch eel which was by then dead. The surgeon said the eel was actually a little BIGGER than the diameter of the urethra! But the slippery slimy body of the eel acted as a lubricant to facilitate entry.

I'm sure i've read reports in the past of an actual candiru swimming into a mans nether regions...

As for the beauty treatment, i'm pretty sure i read they were using another type of fish and not a candiru...

did I just read about a 20" eel eating the colon in the man's butt? WTF?

So what's the beauty treatment all about and what does lying in a tub of eels accomplish besides having a man's penis invaded?

Hell knows, but I assume its along the same lines as the whole garra foot spa deal.

I think I will resist the urge to read about things that would be invasive like that. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon that these things can happen. I only have to worry about pitbulls and drivebys.
