Hey peeps,

I currently have 5 channa gachua's and 2 channa sp. assam in a 50g. All of them are eating well, very active, displaying beautiful colours. The problem is, and this may be because i'm paranoid abt them, some of them look like they have pop eye. The main one being a channa gachua with an open wound under his jaw that he got from shipping. I think i may be just tripping out and being over careful but i don't know. Also the channa sp. assam has what looks like a scratch on his eye.. Its right on the tip of eye ball. check out the diagram below. its from the front view of a fish if you are looking at it head on... The scratch is in the area indicated by the black.

Please help me... I was thinking of treating them with some melfix. However i'm going on a vacation in a week for two weeks.. They have an automatic feeder and one of my house mates maybe here to change water.

best adive mesure out all the meds and water treatment into seperate containers mark the date and have your mate perform the dosing and have him do a couple smaller water changes a week less chance of a problem occurring other then that it sounds like youre on the right track melifix and water changes

thanks for the advice... But are they in trouble for sure? They all seem fine. infact better than fine. They're all super responsive to me. And very inquisitive. Always coming up to the front of the tank to see what im doing, when they see me...

Melafix would not hurt. I have not used salt with snakeheads or I would suggest using some,
Scratched eyes are pretty common and heal well unless fungus sets in, melafix and clean water should prevent that.
Pics please of the popeyed ones.
Pop eye is often treatable with tmp sulfa or tri sulfa antibiotics.

even if i could take a pic of the 'pop eye' you could barely notice it.. Coz its looks like its bulging ever so slightly.. I ws thinking if fish from the species could have diff eye shape?
