I came across a very cheap food that are used in fish farms. I am sure of its quality but I am not sure if it is sutable for aquarium fish, specifically large americans. The name of the food is "pelleted carp grow-out feed". Here are the ingredients and analysis:

I am not planning to use it as staple food but I may have to use it in the future since it is very cheap. For now I will use as a growing support with NLS. What do you think?

What about Mississippi? LOL! Yeah should be fine, depending on what they are feedin it to. Carp and the like have different feeding requirements than CA/SA cichlids. As long as its not the staple, you should be fine. They just have a lot of ash in there, stuff like that for easier digestion with the carp/cats.

They sell stuff like all around here, its great living in the state of Catfish Ponds! :D

The problem with this kind of pellet is that you dont know how it will affect your water. I used to feed my fish with fish farm pellets and my water was always cloudy. It was very cheap and my fish loved it but i ended up buying another canister because i thought my tank was underfiltered because of the cloudy water. It didnt solve the problem , then i stopped feeding them with the fish farm pellets. Results? Clear water...

Information like this is why I love coming to MFK.

I will see about that. This food looks like a quality product to me. The main reason I will use it is the relatively high percentage of protein and relatively low percentage of fat. I heard that juvenile fish that eat this food grow like crazy. A guy told me his oscars grew 8 cms in 1.5 months with this food. I am sure he is not lying.
