While browsing EBAY a while back I came across a bunch of pellets up for auction that were packaged in bulk, and intetended for 'farmed fish'. I am curious if these pellets are generally avaliable for sale, and if they are of good quality.

does anyone have any experience with this food?
does anyone know of any sources?

To sum up, is it a cheap and healthy way to feed my columbians shark catfish? I realize that a food designed for one type of fish may not work for another.

Welcome to MFK!!!

You didn't list the brands you saw so, I can only generalize. I buy my prepared foods in bulk to save on $. I prefer using pellets and crumbles (fast sinking for less loss to filter overflow) that have high seafood/plant protein levels and low mammal protein additives (blood meal, chicken meal, etc.). I also buy standard rabbit pellets to feed my plant eaters.
I go through pounds of food a day and I can stock up in bulk orders for as little as $12/25lb bag. I get sinking catfish pellets and rabbit food from a local farm feed store. Invert foods, large fish crumbles, and high protein fry grow out feeds are received from aquaticeco.com/kensfish.com and other sources when I find sales or good deals.

I used to feed bulk farm food to some aquaculture tilapia back in school, and they did fairly well

IDK where I saw it but I think they are extremly high in protien and fat to make the fish grow very fast. I think they would be fine for the fish if fed ocasionally. Just not as a staple. Maybe like one of the feedings per week. Possibly instead if feeders cuz they are made from fish i believe.

I use Azoo Koi Mini Pellets for fish large enough to take it because it's cheap and seems to work pretty well. About $5 for 2.2 pounds before shipping at drsfostersmith.com.
